It's Easier Than You Think to Make a Difference
The school year is almost over and teachers and students can rejoice, however it's crunch time and finishing the year off strong is more important now, than ever! Unfortunately there are still a lot of students who are underperforming and not getting the most out of their education this year. With this trend happening students who need extra help are doomed to get a lower GPA, redoing the same grade level, stressing students & families, lower confidence, and a host of other challenges. The best way to combat this issue is through tutoring and personalized teaching. Dedicating a little time can have a HUGE impact on students and completely change their lives.
Giving back to the community and supporting kids and families are our main goals at Teach Not Punish. One way we're doing all three of those is through our academic intervention program. This program is complete with accelerated specialized learning for every k-8 subject; with a focus on math, reading, progress monitoring and positive reinforcements for student motivation. For people who want to make a positive impact on the youth in the community we are seeking volunteers to help us. This is a really exciting opportunity for both us and individuals who enjoy volunteering. For many people volunteering is a way to ignite the soul, it fills an empty void and is a chance to give something back to the community or make a difference to the people around them. For others it provides an opportunity to develop new skills or build on existing experience and knowledge. Regardless of the motivation, what unites them all is that they find it both challenging and rewarding
The program start date is April 5th with the ending day being May 17th - every Wednesday and Thursday at 3:30 p.m - 6 p.m for a length of 7 weeks. Before becoming a volunteer we do have a 1-hr training which is mandatory prior to starting and we do not require our volunteers to sign up for more than 1 session. Snacks and meals are provided to volunteers and transportation is provided for students only. If interested complete our Volunteer Tutor Position form, after that we’ll send you an email with next steps. Remember taking a small time to help our program will give a student a lifetime of appreciation.
